Many missed items not fixed I have a very busy schedule and a number of cars that I'm responsible for. I count on GFS to handle details, to fix the cars based on the list of items that need to be repaired. It's very very frustrating when I get told the car is finished and it I spend two hours or more out of my day to retrieve the car and a number of items have not been addressed. Items that were even brought to my attention by GFS that were not fixed and I approved for repair! Told things would be taken care of or completed and it never happens. I'd rather be told no and find another way that be told yes and it never happens. Many many times I come home and find loose spark plugs, missing hardware, sloppy mechanics all around. HUGE disappointment My last experience was absolutely horrible. I left my car on Saturday, and was told that I would be called back...I heard nothing. I called on Monday morning, spoke with Ken and was told I would be called back, and once again...nothing. Each time I said that I wanted my state inspection done, and wanted prioritization of their maintenance recommendations, totaling almost $1,000. Again, no response from Ken. This went happened on Tuesday, and finally on Wednesday I told them I was coming to pick up my car and found out that they never did the inspection when they were asked 5 times to do it. There was no mention of the other work I wanted done. When I picked up my car, they had done work that I did not authorize. I went in picked my car up, and the young man working told me that he would get Ken, and I told him that I would no longer deal with him, and wanted to speak to the owner. He said that the owner was not in, and proceeded to go over their recommendations with me, after I had told him how awful this experience was. When explained that I would be taking that business elsewhere, he said he would have the owner give me a call to discuss the problem, and now it is 3 days later and I still have not received a call from ANYONE. - Review by DemandForce.com | |

Purchase a Volvo wth transmisson problems. will not repair Beware of Lemon Cars Purchase a used volvo from here a few months ago. After a week, we had transmission problems. After 4 trips from Syracuse to Geneva, the problem still has not been corrected. In fact they stated a volvo with this many miles should lurch forward at traffic lights and down shift hard. The service manager offered to rebuild the the transmission. After they had the car a week, no repairs were made the solution they offered was for us to buy a $2000. extended warranty. We took the car to our local volvo dealer and an independent european car repair shop, they both told us the transmission needs to be overhauled/replaced. We will pay the dealer here to fix the car. I had a problem with my turn signal I had a problem with my turn signal failure warning coming on I was told was fixed. To "fix" the problem, they replaced bulbs (which had been working) and when the problem persisted I was told that it must be a connector. I was charged nearly $70 to replace the cabin air filter which is takes 10 minutes maximum. My car was in to have oil changed, air filter changed and tires rotated. I was charged $270. This service at any Walmart lube center would have been under $100 for the exact same quality service. When I inquired about the excessive service charges, Ken (the service manager) stated "well that's what the book says to charge", admitting it did not take the time that I was charged. Very Unprofessional and misleading Sales Manager “MICHAEL HACKETT”. Backstory*Relatives purchased a vehicle from this dealership along with an extended warranty. After they got home I was able to review their documents for the extended warranty and found a few issues with it. 1. It was a 3yr/36k mile warranty with a $100 deductible that was presented as a factory warranty. Vehicle has about 96000 miles. What was failed to be mentioned to them was that with this warranty after 100000 miles it turns into a powertrain only. They paid $3000 for this warranty. * Fast forward to about 2 ½ weeks later I travel down with them to the dealership….. (they needed some items looked at on the vehicle that were not noticed at purchased such as: chewed wires from animals in engine compartment and struts making a lot of noise). ***SIDE NOTE:I have to say whoever their phone people are, they are awesome at their job, very friendly and thoughtful.*** …..I travel down with them to the dealership, we drop the vehicle off at service to have the items looked at and we all head to the mall to go shopping. We were then contacted that the vehicle was finished and we went back to the store. At the store the receptionist helped clarify some things and was vague about the repair done to the wires. (the repair consisted of them wrapping it with electrical tape and calling it a day.) The service department notified us that the vehicle needed a Strut. They promised to mail a Strut to us, but would not cover any labor costs. After speaking with service, we proceeded over to Michael Hackett’s desk where I requested a cancelation on the warranty. His immediate response was taking out a brochure for the warranty and saying that it had nothing to do with the dealership. (This statement would have been very misleading if I did not know what I was talking about.) His statement sounded like a statement used to deter someone from canceling within the first 30 days. ****NOTE: within the first 30 days of a warranty contract of this type, If you cancel you are entitled to a FULL refund. Depending on weather or not it was All financed that refund is due to you in cash or to your lienholder as a reduction in your principal balance. **** After insisting that he had nothing to do with it and accusing me of being aggressive and threatening which I take was due to me shaking because of my Remedial Tremors and red-faced because I was nervous and it should have been an easy process. Also being nervous doesn’t help with the Tremors lol. After he postured as if he was hoping I would do something, he called his 3rd party vendor who connects him to the Warranty company and who didn’t quite fully understand the situation. They both told me I had to call the company to cancel the warranty. I did not want to cause any more of a scene and we were not getting anywhere being there. About 10 minutes being on the phone waiting for an answer from the warranty company they instructed us to cancel the warranty AT THE DEALERSHIP because the warranty was not processed to them from the dealership and that an in-dealership cancelation is required. Long story short about the cancelation, after a few hours of submitting information, typing up letters to the dealership, Attorney General, and the bank and warranty company, the warranty was canceled. Good note to mention: I only had to text these letters and documentation to the Dealer and Warranty Rep to get it canceled but it should not have taken all that to cancel a warranty. I expect from reviewing all the other negative reviews on here that I will get some misrepresentation of events as a response but this review is accurate to a "T" about how events transpired. Over all they have potential of increasing their retention if they actually listen to their reviews, however seeing how old some are and knowing what canned ones look like, I do not see it happening. I wish them the best and wanted to share the experience in full. Thank you for the advisor that was nice. We did receive the strut!! | |

Dan, I cannot in all fairness to you and your company give you a good rating. We have done business with you several years now and our last visit was the straw that broke the camels back. We paid for a part that did not fix the problem on my emergency brake and then you chose to jerry rig the electrical to stop the buzzing and consequently caused another problem with disconnecting the daytime running lights. Now this is a safety issue and cannot be claimed as a discount on my vehicle insurance. We also feel it was the mechanic who caused the air bag light to come on. These issues came up before we left the garage after a repair on the shift cables. | |

Wanted oil change and winter tires switched over, but also wanted a complete Spring maintenance on the car: filters, fluids checked, etc. But for some reason, this request did not make its way back to the service counter. car fix 8/15 car arrived for inspection and emerg brake work, 8/17 called me w/estimate,also said due for oil chnge (i said no oil because i chng'd already and gfs due sticker was off by 10000 miles, said needed at 48K when we bought it at 53K) I said fix. 8/24 said car ready, immedialy followed by no its not, waiting for cable to arrive. 8/25 car picked up, got it home (40 mins away) and noticed passenger center trim panel(2 feet long) by feet undone and not attached(not sure why anyone was in there, cable perhaps?)played w/that for 1/2 hour to attach properly. - Review by DemandForce.com | |

review of my service experience I was disappointed that after I drove 40 min to get to your location to pick up my sons parts for his '88 volvo, nobody double-checked that all the parts were included in the set, so I left empty handed and have to make the drive again to get the remaining part. 2004 Mini Cooper Bought a MINI Cooper from them, as well as a $2k warranty. Took it back for some repairs after the sale and asked that they do something with the headliner that was sagging in two places. Now twice in for the same headliner repair, twice saying that they "can't do anything about it". The second time I asked if they knew anybody that could fix it, because it is getting fixed. They told me of a place down the street and said "tell em we sent you". How about owning the problem, you take the car there, you get it sorted out and have a happy customer? I don't have that license in my business, nor should you! Disappointed I purchased my vehicle in the summer of 2012 and have had it in for service twice. While I am disappointed that I have had to sink 500 dollars above my car payments into this car in 5 months, I was even more upset that I had a scheduled appointment for both service calls and it took all day to even get my car looked at. Apparently appointments only count if you are waiting in their lobby. This was not made clear to us in the beginning nor were we asked if we were under a time constraint. Staff is always friendly and apologetic for the delay but I think this can be avoided with just adding one question at the time of drop off. Decent place Great customer service. Decent prices, could be a little cheaper based on age and condition of vehicles but its had to find older used cars so I appreciate that Geneva has them. They gave low money for the trade in claiming that was auction prices and then resold on there lot for a good profit, but they are in the business to make money. first time car buyer I had an older car and it wasn't doing so well and I thought that it was time to go buy one that was a couple years newer and I wouldn't have to fix all the time. ok (keep the facts straight though) Well, I started by e-m'ing to set up app't for stabilizer links in reference to letter we received from gfs and it included price it would be, also stated I needed loaner, the reply was "no problem". So I asked when would be good to drop it off and response was "monday? saturday?"
I chose monday and asked if loaner would be ready and response was "sounds good to me".
On that Monday, I left work and arrived there around 4:00 and was told there was no loaner available.......I said I had em exchanges w/ Dan and he assured me there would be one...after a phone call or two, there was going to be one returning in 20 minutes or so, so I waited and did get one of the clown cars.
I handed over the letter from gfs about stabilizer links and said they would take care of it, also asked to check tires, exhaust, change oil and airbag message. Later, added on rear window wash squirt kit. Had phone conversation w/service manager (?) about all they did do and he told me it didn't need stabilizer links and I asked him about the prompting letter from gfs. He stated must have been for another car.....I said I've owned enough of these cars and I know the infamous rattle when those links are worn, he said he would take for ride and call me. He did, and said car was quiet (at this point I'm really checking my sanity) I said okay...........well, he called back later and said the reason i didnt need them is because they already replaced them earlier that day and chuckled,..... wow, i thought, at least i'm not losing my mind.
GFS did not sell me stuff I didn't need, for instance: tires still have life left and exhaust is just cover for muffler also suggested having message center computer thing rebuilt instead of buying new which saved many $$ (still is a little loud, the clown car loaner, same year, same model, many more miles, was quieter.)
Gfs stated msg center thing would be back in about a week and is a quick install...about 10 days later got a call and it was in and I went up the next day for quick install and that it was.
I did notice oil was spilled on passenger side of exterior and lightly wiped all over hood, then I looked and a bunch of oil was gathered where wiper comes out for headlight.
I think prices were reasonable and gfs is honest and I'm sure we will be buying car/s there again.

The service was good BUT the rate was outrageous ! I would like to have more done on the car BUT not at $100.00 per hour ! I clicked no below only because of the rate. I will be back but only in emergencies. Sorry.

HONESTY & PROFESSIONALISM AT IT'S BEST!! As always - I have to hold my breath for the bad news. Just never know what might be found during my service visits. With the exception of a pricey spark plug scare all went well. I couldn't give five stars because when I made the appointment I stated that I needed new wipers (twice) and had to go without my car an extra day because the wipers had to ordered. Porsche 968 Repair Staff was friendly and very accomodating. Shop and waiting area was clean and comfortable. The only negative I had, was that I thought the labor price was a little high for my repair. I think it should have been around $60 less.

The service was always top notch and professional, the staff always friendly and willing to help explain an issue. Nice service, terrible investment. So I finance my first car threw GFS. Very excited, I bought a 2005 Saab 9-2x. With in the first month I had to replace a fuel line. Couple months later (after warranty) My engine went which was an $5000 investment and had to replace the clutch . Woot woot. Sense then (which has only been 6 months I've had to replace power steering pump and lines, alternator, breaks and rotors. So for having the car for 8 months I've put in an additional 6000$ My overall experience was just a disappointment and a money pit with regrets. But hoping I can just pay it off before something else goes wrong! | |

Excellent Turn Around Time The check engine light came on in my Saab so I drove it to GFS. They diagnosed a faulty sensor, and within an hour had replaced it and changed the oil. The oil change was quite expensive so I may not ask them to do that in the future. Repair after warrenty They were great, my check engine light came on a couple weeks AFTER my 30 day warrenty expired - they had the car in twice to determine the problem, had to order parts and did not charge me! Great service, reasonable prices, professional attitude! Geneva Foreign and Sports does a great job of dealing with the service needs of my Volvos. They are always able to acquire hard-to-find parts, and their prices are very reasonable (especially compared to the Volvo dealers!). They are very good about providing a loaner car if one is needed. Excellent I had several issues with my 2002 BMW X5, and the service group was extremely professional and courteous. Due to level of diagnostic work that had to be done, I experienced something I have never experienced in my life time. The Service Mgr told me he wanted to me to drive my car for a few days to make sure everything was working as expected, then call him back to negotiate the final invoice, being totally apologetic for the time it took for my car to get repaired. Professional with expertize and courtesy and treat women with respect I took my Jetta 2005 to Geneva Foreign and Sports because I was sick and tired of the service at the dealership in Ithaca. It was like night and day. The front desk people are kind, listen carefully, explain clearly what is wrong (or not) with the car. They thoroughly inspected my car and told me what needed to be done and which pieces I needed to do now and which could wait.
As a woman, I felt that they explained things to me clearly without the usual condescension or hogwash that many places use. Their quote for a large job was 20% cheaper than the dealership and they fit me in at my convenience.
Most of all, you can just tell that this place knows what it means to offer good service. Both times I have been there, the waiting room was full of local people who asked after the folks that worked there and there was a convivial atmosphere of contented customers.
The Ithaca dealership gives you free ice cream and water bottles but keeps you waiting for hours, doesn't pick up the phone when you call, spins you a line as often as not, misdiagnoses the problem and charges you mightily for it all. I prefer a place that knows what they are doing, treats you courteously, gets the job done when they say they will and fixes the problem. Beats the free ice cream cone any time. I will definitely use them again and feel grateful to have them in my neck of the woods. | |

Exceptional Service After taking my car to the dealer for service, the dealer showed me the computer diagnostic and estimated the repairs to be far beyond what I could afford or what my car was worth.I then took it to GFS for a second opinion. The GFS diagnostic computers showed the same errors but the folks at GFS said that the errors may have a single underlying cause which could be repaired at a much lower cost. GFS then systematically traced the mechanical failures and meticulously repaired exactly what was needed step by step. They even found problems missed by the dealer over years of service. After completing their work, GFS towed my car back to me at no charge. The result is that my car is now running better than ever and I saved thousands of dollars. I cannot recommend GFS more highly. Inspection I received a call from the Service Manager (Ken) that my wife's car(05 BMW X5) was due for an inspection this month. During the appointment they gave me a loaner to use and found that the vehicle needed brakes all the way around, had a bad tie-rod, and a grounding issue with the passenger tail light. Great customer service in the car biz? YES! I had a very good experience with the folks at GFS. In the span of about 3 months I bought a 2003 Volvo, got rear-ended by a big SUV, had the body shop do an excellent job repairing it, and visited a couple of times to find and ultimately fix a minor but annoying vibration. Nice job keeping my 2008 Mercedes E550 in shape. Came in at 8:15 am for winter/summer wheel exchange, NYS inspection, replace wipers and order a replacement for a corroded heated windshield washer nozzle . Also wanted to check out some front end faint clunk noises over "big" bumps, and to check for any computer code/faults (GFS has all that diagnostic equipment for my MB) such as for the driver's side door handle whose keyless open button has stopped working (common on this MB E-series). As usual the GFS folks went out of their way to explain the details of what needed fixing/servicing now vs at the next oil change (i.e., brake pads getting thin), and what we should defer to later. The faint clunk seems to be from a sway bar bushing that is starting to wear slightly but since it's not a safety issue, they recommended letting it wear some more to be sure it's really the culprit.

A++ Collision Repair Having been in the automobile field for many years, and even today in my new field, I often hear people say 'once a car has been in an accident, it is never the same'. Bull Crap! All that means to me is that the car was not fixed at Geneva Foreign & Sports Collision shop.
Fortunately for me, I have been a customer of yours since my introduction to your shop, while working for a Rochester car dealer, over 20 years ago. I have had the unfortunate experience, not usually of my own doing, of getting to know some of your team members on a first name basis by constantly needing the services you supply.
I picked up my 2006 Cadillac Escalade this past weekend and took it for a ride and it was every bit as good as it was when I first bought it years ago. I have 84k plus miles on it and my goal, if other people stop thinking that I am a target, is to drive it to 250k plus miles. It has been in your shop three times now since I have owned it, twice in the last 4-5 months, since the Cadillac dealership closed.
I wanted to commend you and your team for jobs well done. I am always pleased with the results of your work. The car always drives and runs as good as it looks when I get it back from you. 4 Runner repairs went perfect My 2004 Toyota 4 runner with 162,000 miles on it had an air conditioner (told the compresher was shot) problem and the rear suspension was inoperable. They fixed a problem in 1 day that the dealer could not fix in weeks. Countless trips to the dealer trying to fix my Volvo's electrical issue was horrific. Someone suggested I try GFS. So I did. 2004 Passat with a lot of problems I took my car in to get the flex pipes fixed and had the car fully checked over to see if anything else needed to be replaced or repaired. EXTRAORDINARY SERVICE! While traveling from Brockport, NY to Montreal, Canada, we stopped at the Clifton Springs rest stop on the thruway. I was driving my Dad's Ford Escape with my dad and my husband was following in our vehicle. My husband noticed, while driving behind us, that one tire needed air. When he went to put air in, he discovered that the stem was all the way out on the tire. It was losing air, so he quickly put the cap back on which slowed down the air loss. There was enough air in the tire that we could make it off the thruway to a repair shop. I called AAA and they directed us to Geneva Foreign & Sports on Rt 14, just off the thruway. We made it to Geneva Foreign & Sport. When we walked in distraught from our tire problem, you could feel right away that this was not an ordinary dealership. The customers waiting reassured us that we had come to the right place. They were right! The staff was WONDERFUL! They helped us right away and we were back on the road in no time! I brought my 2000 xc70 in for an... I brought my 2000 xc70 in for an oil change and the mechanic spotted an issue with my brakes. Instead of just telling me how much I would need to pay to fix it, Dan took me into the garage and had the mechanic explain and show what happened and what it should look like. GFS had the parts in stock and was able to start the repair immediately. Since they knew I hadn't planned on staying all afternoon, they offered a car to my wife and I so we could pass the time at the outlet malls. When we declined, we were offered lunch which they had just grilled. We were comfortable in the lobby, the car was fixed up and is running great, the cost was cheaper than it would have been anywhere else and the yellow lab, Keelie (sp) kept us company the whole time we were waiting. In addition to the warm, friendly, and family like atmosphere that I have always experienced in dealing with the staff, I am particularly impressed with technical and diagonistic expertise of D. Fitzgerald who although he has an engineering degree from the University of Rochester, has chosen to do what he loves doing best, working with people and utilizing his keen logical/mathmetical intellect to solve the mechanical problems he deals with and solves five and a half days a week.

While deliberating my choice of vehicles, Jay, the owner used the phrase "I assure you" more than once in an attempt to remove any doubts I had about my choices. After driving the vehicle for a few days, I discovered some things about the car that needed attention. Some small. Some not so small. (most of these were intermittent and difficult to catch on initial inspection) When I brought these to his attention, he offered without hesitation to provide me with a loaner car for however long it took them to rectify the issues. A few days later I received a call telling me that I could come to get my car. I half expected to be presented with a bill for something. Surprise! $0! The car needed a new transfer case$$$$$ among other things. A man of his word. If this is any indication of their business philosophy, then it will not be the last vehicle I will purchase from them.

They have my records for both vehicles available and do everything thoroughly and well. I especially appreciate the effort made to explain any problems with my cars completely so that I understand why repairs are necessary. | |

Only shop I've ever trusted I'm a VERY particular person, and also rather skeptical. I usually do my own repairs, even engine replacement, transmission rebuild, etcetera. However, my current living arrangement and work situation makes it very difficult to work on my car. I gave Geneva Foreign and Sport a shot in a particularly desperate moment, and I am glad I did.
One experience in a nutshell: they diagnosed an internal transmission issue that the dealer (as a second opinion) told me was bogus. I took the tranny out myself and took it over there to "call them out" so to speak. They were friendly and patient with me. They took a look right away, confirmed their diagnosis, and brought me in to see myself. I felt a bit like a schmuck, but was completely satisfied. They won my trust and my business.
Don't take work elsewhere because their labor rate may not be the cheapest in town; they are true professionals who get work done quickly. I'd much rather pay $100/hour for one hour of labor than $75/hour for two hours, only for the symptoms to persist, and have to go back and pay for two more hours to finally fix it. I'd recommend Geneva Foreign and Sport to anyone. | |

All work completed on time in a workmanship like manner Called on a Thursday to mount 4 new tires and alignment. Accommodated in schedule the next da.y Alignment looked problematic because adjustment bolts were frozen. Honda Dealer wanted to replace parts. Geneva, using Inductive heating technology, freed up adjustment bolts and accomplished task at far lower cost. | |

Ongoing lock issue We were having an ongoing lock issue with our 2003 BMW 330xi. It had been back to the dealership several times. Each time the staff was friendly, courteous, and professional. They seemed just as eager to fix the problem as we were. Finally, before our trip to VA for Thanksgiving, they solved the issue and we haven't had a problem since. I do not fault the service department or the mechanics, as electrical problems are difficult to diagnose, and intermittent ones like ours was are nearly impossible.
